This policy explains which personal data we process when you visit scroogexhtml.com, try the online RTF conversion demo, buy a license, use the download area or contact us, why we do so, and which rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). When you open a page, your browser sends technical data to the web server: IP address, date and time of the request, the requested page, the referring page, and browser and operating system type. The server is operated by our hosting provider 1blu GmbH (Berlin, Germany), which processes these data on our behalf.
We use these data only to deliver the website, keep it secure and investigate misuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure and working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The log files are deleted after 14 days, unless a specific incident needs to be investigated.
We do not use analytics, advertising or social media tools. Fonts, icons, stylesheets, scripts and images are served from scroogexhtml.com and habarisoft.com, which are both operated by us with the same hosting provider, so visiting a page does not send your IP address to other companies. The exceptions are the pages with a checkout and the online demo (see below).
The scroogexhtml.com pages do not use cookies. The online API documentation stores view settings (such as the state of the navigation tree) in your browser. These settings stay on your device and are not sent to us.
The demo on the home page converts an RTF file you select to HTML. Nothing is sent until you click "Convert". Your browser then uploads the file to a Google Cloud Function that we run in the Google Cloud region europe-west10 (Berlin, Germany), and receives the converted HTML in return. The file is only processed to create the HTML. It is not stored and not shared with anyone, and log messages contain no document text.
Like every web service, Google Cloud records technical request data: IP address, date and time, request size and browser type. Google processes these data on our behalf, and the request logs are deleted after 30 days. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in offering a working, abuse-protected demo of our product (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Please do not upload documents containing personal or confidential data; the demo is meant for test documents.
Orders are processed by our online reseller Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited, United Kingdom), which is the merchant of record. Paddle collects the data needed for the purchase, such as name, email address, billing address, VAT ID and payment details, as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. We never see your payment details.
On the pages with a checkout (the home page and the Object Pascal page), your browser loads Paddle's checkout script from Paddle's servers, so Paddle receives your IP address and browser data when you open these pages. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in offering online purchases (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, once you start a checkout, the performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). For the United Kingdom an adequacy decision of the European Commission is in place.
After a purchase, Paddle sends us an order notification with your name, email address, company and address. We use these data to deliver the license, to set up your access to the download area on habarisoft.com (you log in with your Paddle subscription or transaction ID; the password is not stored in plain text), to send download credentials and update notices, and to provide support. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
We keep these data while your subscription or download account is active, and afterwards for as long as German commercial and tax law requires us to keep business records (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
When you contact us by email, we process your email address, your name and the content of your message to answer your inquiry. Legal basis: performance or preparation of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), otherwise our legitimate interest in answering inquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention periods apply to it.
We do not sell or rent personal data. Data are disclosed only to the service providers named in this policy (our hosting provider 1blu GmbH, Google Cloud for the demo, and Paddle), and to authorities where the law requires it.
You have the right to access your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18), and to receive it in a portable format (Art. 20). Where we process data based on our legitimate interest, you can object to the processing for reasons arising from your particular situation (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW).
Providing personal data is not required for visiting this website. Without the order data, however, we cannot deliver a license. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
